It has been 15 years since the first Cosmic store opened and on Saturday the 26th of May we celebrate 15 years of rebel retail like any respectable 15 year old would – with a lot of loud music!

The celebrations at Good Luck kick off at 5pm where 15 Djs will create one of the most eclectic nights of music Wellington has witnessed with a myriad of incredible drink specials courtesy of Good Luck including 2 for 1 Cocktails from 5pm – 8pm.

Playing everything from Dancehall, Hip Hop, Soul to House, Techno & Disco, the party will embrace all that is crazy, funky, fun and cosmic from 5pm until 5am with a cover charge of just $5!

Pre-sale tickets can be purchased online and in store. The first 100 in store purchases will also take away a free copy of the new Cosmic CD ~ ‘Fifteen Cosmic Years’ which features fifteen hot NZ tracks including 4 new releases.

350 party-hungry rascals packed out Dux Live on Saturday, Mar 10 to help celebrate Cosmic’s 15th birthday.

The always entertaining DJ Hairdresser on Fire kicked off the evening with his mixture of new wave classics and indie gems before Sexy Animals got us all hot under the collar; their raucous sleaze-rock and seductive antics sent the crowd into a frenzy and some of the female contingent even got a bit grabby at the end there! Next up was the Transistors whose high-octane power-pop hits had the floor filled, from moshing youngsters at the front to somewhat more genteel toe-tappers at the back. Funkysorearsewrecks (AKA Chris Boyd) managed to make a complete change up work – opening with Snow’s Informer (a licky boom-boom down) before following up with a super set of old school treasures. Later Soul Trader brought the funk and I’m sorry but I can’t remember what happened after that.

Big-ups to the bands and DJs for providing the soundtrack to a great night, to Carsy – the original Cosmonaut to whom we owe our livelihoods, this night and so many others, Lotus – who pulled it all together, the Dux Live crew for providing such a sweet venue and being so very easy to work with and of course to everyone who attended – people make the party!

On Friday Feb 17 Myele Manzanza released his debut album ONE, celebrated his 24th birthday and performed live at Cosmic On Cuba with his band the Estobahn Eclectic.

Critics have been talking up Myele’s work and he did not disappoint. His amazing songs and showmanship had a healthy crowd bopping in the store and people chilling by the bucket fountain outside. Cheers Myele, come back any time!

To celebrate Cosmic’s 15th birthday, we’re having a do in the town where it all began! Tickets are limited so get in early!

It’s 15 years since Mark Carswell threw open the doors to his new business on High Street – Cosmic Corner. Since then we’ve dropped the “Corner”, opened a total of 9 stores in 4 cities and seen one reduced to rubble by mother nature… but for the most-part we’ve had one hella good time!

Now we’d like to invite you to join us in celebrating our 15th anniversary with some of our favourite local acts.

Rangiora’s favourite noisy power-popsters the Transistors are joined by sleaze rock maestros Sexy Animals along with the DJ styles of Soul Trader, Funkysorearsewrecks and DJ Hairdresser on Fire.

Be there or be somewhere else (not having as much fun as you would have had you attended as previously recommended). Tickets are available from Cosmic at The Palms and the Cashel St Container store, or online at Cosmic Ticketing.

Swing into the Amsterdam Coffeeshop at 97 Cuba St, Wellington and pick up a Cosmic coffee card. Buy 10 coffees (collecting stamps as you go), get a free coffee and one entry into the draw for a trip for 2 to Amsterdam! You can enter as many times as your coffee consumption allows.

Prize includes flights, four nights accommodation in central Amsterdam, 4 days bicycle hire, plus pocket money for coffeeshop visits!

The winner will be free to extend the trip and/or add other destinations at their own expense. Timing is flexible and will be arranged in consultation with Cosmic, however the itinerary will ultimately be at Cosmic’s discretion.

Cosmic’s own Shane Forge is pleased to bring you The Garden Shed – 100% NZ Electronica from the bedrooms, basements & backyards (specifically The Garden Shed) of Aotearoa. The difference between The Green Room and The Garden Shed being firstly, the name, and secondly they get way deep on the DIY ethic. As many unplayed, unexposed ditty’s they can possibly get their muddy hands on!

The Garden Shed runs from 7-9pm (NZT) Monday nights on Radio Active 88.6fm in Wellington & is available for live streaming via www.radioactive.fm

Catch Myele Manzanza & The Estobahn Eclectic live & for free this Friday the 17th of February at Cosmic on Cuba! On the 17th of February, Myele Manzanza – the driving rhythmical talent behind Electric Wire Hustle – steps out from behind the drum kit to celebrate both his 24th birthday and the release of his first solo album – One. To celebrate, Myele and the Estobhan Eclectic will perform live in store at Cosmic Cuba St from 5:30pm this Friday.

Created in London, Berlin and New York and featuring a host of international and local talent including Bella Kalolo, Ladi 6, Rachel Fraser, Mark de Clive Lowe and Mara TK, One  arrives at Cosmic Cuba St this Friday and will be available for the special price of just $20 during the in store performance only.
